The long holiday weekend is over, but the hangover still remains. Instead of swearing that you’ll never drink again - we both know that’s a lie – try one of these tried and hopefully true hangover cures to ease your pain during the upcoming week!
1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Drinking alcohol rids the body of fluids, so try replenishing your supply by guzzling some good old-fashioned H2O! While this will slowly help ease the hangover pain, it’s best used the night before while drinking to help prevent a hangover! So, drink up!
2. Load up on greasy food
Whether you’re buzzed, drunk, or nursing a hangover, greasy salty food is always in demand. While it might not cure your hangover, it’s definitely a great way to ease the pain after a long holiday weekend.
3. Work it out!
Although it’s probably the LAST thing on your mind, working out may actually help cure that lingering hangover. The burst of endorphins, movement, and fresh air will give your mood a boost and can help rid your body of what remains from the night before.
When you’re feeling hungover, reaching for a cup of coffee or hitting up your local Starbucks could actually help ease the hangover pain. The caffeine rush will soothe an aching head and will give you a quick boost of much-needed energy!
When you’re hungover, you may experience an unexplainable craving for Gatorade. This is your body subtly screaming for hydration and for electrolytes. Guzzling a Gatorade may actually help ease the hangover headache and give you a burst of energy!
6. Coconut Water
Much like Gatorade, coconut water is a tried and true treatment for the hangover blues. This more natural remedy rehydrates your body and gives you a quick kick of energy! Not to mention that it tastes delicious!
Yes, the over-the-counter drink meant for dehydrated children can actually help cure your hangover! This surprisingly delicious kids’ drink will rehydrate you and provide you with a dose of nutrients to help combat the toxins leftover from your weekend of holiday drinking!
This famously fizzing medicine was made to treat an upset stomach and is often used as a hangover cure. The sodium bicarbonate in Alka-Seltzer can help ease the nausea you may experience after a weekend of drinking, but won’t do much for your head. To get a full-body hangover cure, you might have to double up with a headache medicine!
9. Hangover Curing Pills
These are pretty new on the market, with the most well known being PreToxx and Chaser, and are a great method for treating a morning hangover. These pills treat a few hangover cures, including nausea and headaches, but don’t hit all of them. Be sure to hydrate if you take any of these pills!
Yes, you read that right. Midol is one of the most effective over-the-counter medicines for treating a hangover because it combines a pain reliever with a dose of caffeine. Not only does this soothe an aching head, but it gives you a quick burst of energy, too!
